So by deafault all the search bots intrude into your directories and index all the pages.
So there has to be a way to stop them doing this.
I wanted to put some of my current work on a wiki and did not want it to be indexed for other people to read it.
Essentially there are 2 ways.
1) This is more robust. In the root directory create a file robots.txt
So the search bot before going through your directory structure respects your privacy and looks at this file.
Your entries here will decide what matter you will like to be indexed.
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
User-agent: * is for all the search bots.
If thats what you put nothing within your root directory will be indexed.
2) The other way is to define a meta tag on the top of the page ( in the header).
<meta name=”robots” content=”noindex,nofollow” />
Google respects your privacy so wont intrude if you follow this. Not sure if all search bots follow this.
Well a lot of free software is been developed today. Everyone of us r really enjoying the luxury of using these new tools. The number of people involved in open source is increasing and seems this trend is gonna continue.
I think whats happening is people are forming small communities and working across boundaries.
Like my current pursuit, we are developing a extension for Mediawiki and all 5 of us sit in different geographical locations. Its difficult to imagine at times
.
Truly a good idea can change the number of hits to ur site.
I have sm for people to explore. I am sure someone somewhere must be working on these ones though.
I dont thnk there is a chat service available which lets 2 people, one logged into yahoo messangee another into gTalk chat with each other. I think this is going to be the next thing which we shd see.
Moreover today we dont have people knowing different languages chat to each other. Like suppose I knw french and person i wanna chat with knows english. I type in french and he/she types in english. And both of us see translated text on the other side. So thats gonna be something soon to see.
U shd see sm more ideaz after a while.
Google seems to be playing old trick in the books. Microsoft also did similar. It gave Netscape browser for free.
